If the weather has been iffy you can check the Garden’s website to make sure they are still holding the flashlight tours that evening. There are lots of great restaurants nearby so make it a night out with dinner, flashlight tours and then some ice cream! The flashlight tours are running Thursday and Saturday nights (until September 2nd) from 7-9:30pm. There are stations set up to interact with guests, give fun facts and information, and just add to the fun of the event. Kids will love looking for plants and animals with flashlights (because who doesn’t), amazing stargazing, a fun area to cool off, putting together and playing in a tent, practicing building a fire and learning about the desert through fun activities and exploration. We were walking behind a little boy around 4 years old who was having a BLAST checking out the stuff we found with our flashlight like frogs, toads and lizards. You do need to bring your own flashlights or buy one in the gift shop. It is a self guided tour so you can go at your own (or your kids’) pace. The BEST part for me was being there to see the sun set! We arrived when it was still light out so we got to enjoy some of the plants in daylight.
